Welcome to the Monday Minute. This is a weekly segment on my Blog where I post a short thought on Random things. Maybe a resource or maybe something I have experienced in the last week. It will be up every Monday so I hope you enjoy.

A couple of weeks ago I was sitting with a few guys as we were planning through an upcoming event for Relevant Student Ministry. During this time I was given a huge reminder on the massive benefit and the possible lasting affect of simple communication. At oneChurch.tv and Relevant Students we base our entire talks/sermons around one main thought. The idea is to give them something they can remember because usually what you remember you can apply.

Back in the summer our student ministry did a few strategic services. Overall we take the summer off. So these services are a way for us to stay connected with students. At these services we had Nate Edmondson (for more on him go HERE) bring the messages. He put together a great series called The Space Between. In the 2nd part of this series he brought one of the better talks I have ever heard directed towards students. The bottom line that night was “it’s not about the decisions you are making, but it’s about the person you are becoming.”

Almost 6 months later I still remember that bottom line. I still have students that remember that bottom line. Talks based around a single thought are easier for people to process through and apply to their lives. Im not saying it’s the only way, but I definitely believe in it.

A great resource if you are interested in learning more about how this process here is a book by Andy Stanley and Lane Jones called Communicating for Change. You can find it on Amazon or at the North Point Store.
