Leadership
Main Session 4 // Doug Fields
1:22 PM
I was pumped for this session before I ever
came in the building. I had a feeling that this morning was going to be Doug
Fields. And I LOVE Doug! There might even be a slight man crush. But that is a
different story for a different day.
Doug talked about being a different kind of
leader. A lot of leaders over time gravitate towards being a self-preserving
leader. Not doing things to push people out front but doing things that are
going to keep you in leadership and keep yourself in a place as the smartest
person in the room.
Doug encouraged us to be a Spot Light Leader.
A leader that pushes other people into the Spotlight. Someone who is consumed
with finding what is good in people and making that something GREAT!! This is
leaves a legacy that may or may not be heard of but that does for sure leave a
lasting impact!
Here are a few of my notes!
3
Characteristics of a spotlight leader
Secure – they don’t care who gets
the credit or if it makes someone else look better. They are secure in who they
are and where God has them and what their role is on a team or in someone else
life. The concern is about the Kingdow advancing with no regard to whether they
do or not.
Searches – They make dedicated
searches into other people to find out what makes them tick. They discover what
is good about them and how they can together make it great. They search for the
key to make they people around them successful.
Servant – A spotlight leader
models what Jesus did and serves the people around him/her. We are never more
like Jesus than we are when we are serving.
We are not competing against one another but we
are trying to win the race together.
When you become a spotlight leader everyone
wins and in the end everyone is made better!
