So I have a huge confession to make. I am a huge Eminem fan. Now let me follow that by saying I do NOT like the way he says some things. I do not like the way he portrays women and I have no idea if I would like him if I spent time with him. Musically, however, I find that he is brilliant. The things he comes up with and the things he is willing to try have in a lot of ways changed the industry he is involved in. I have always respected how he has taken responsibility for his daughters and seems to love them passionately. When I was in high school this guy was just making his name and of course I loved his music then as well.

A few weeks ago 60 minutes did a special on him. Obviously I was more than a little intrigued by it. So I made sure to get to watch it and see what the thrust of the interview was. He had an interesting perspective about what he does and how it affects kids. When they asked him about what his music says and portrays to impressionable kids he had a very direct response. “You’re the parent, be the parent!”

What do you think about that statement? I have attached the interview. For you to watch and I would love some feedback on where you fall when it comes to him and his responsibility for what he says and what his music portrays verses what the parents role is in that process.
