First I just have to say how much I love Perry. He has such a heart for pastors and an understanding of where they are and where we as pastors can be at times. His heart to take some time to pastor us and encourage us to keep going is absolutely amazing.

Perry talked out of 1 Kings 17:3-7. It’s a story of Elijah and God leading him into the middle of no-where and promised to provide everything he would need.

Perry uses this story to paint a beautiful picture of how we know God leads where He wants us to go and we trust in that at the beginning. We are excited and pumped as we go through and process through life change because it is exciting and new. New is almost always, on some level, exciting because new brings potential. So we are pumped and we know God is leading us and has His loving hand on us. The pivotal point comes when the “brook” dies up. When all the water stops flowing and we are in a tough season. What will we do? Where will we go?

Perry used that analogy to share that when things get tough and the brook goes dry God is not punishing us but preparing us! When the brook dried up for Elijah God moved him into a different place where he begin the greatest revival of his time.

God is not punishing us in dry seasons but he is preparing us for something far bigger than us. If everything in our life is explainable then we did it not God!! That was a HUGE statement for me. If we know Jesus lead us to where we are then we have to trust that He will sustain us.

Perry left the stage making this statement. “Don’t you dare give up on God when He has never given up on you!
